The University of Portsmouth (UoP) is a public university located on the south coast of England in the historic city of Portsmouth. It operates across two main campuses—one in the city centre and the other in Langstone, situated near the seafront.
Since gaining university status in 1992, UoP has grown into one of the UK’s larger higher education institutions and is recognised for its strong academic quality. The university has over 31,000 students, including more than 5,200 international students from over 150 countries and regions. It is also listed among the Chinese Ministry of Education’s list of recognised overseas institutions, enabling mutual recognition of academic degrees between China and the UK.
UoP comprises five faculties:

Faculty of Creative and Cultural Industries
Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences
Faculty of Science and Health
Faculty of Technology
Together, these faculties offer more than 430 degree programmes, ranging from undergraduate to doctoral levels, across a broad spectrum of disciplines.
The university has been awarded a QS 5-Star rating and is ranked within the 631–640 band in the QS World University Rankings 2025, reflecting its growing international reputation.
